Articulation and Phonology

Therapy for articulation and phonological impairments is offered following an initial evaluation and/or consultation with a clinical supervisor. Clients are seen individually, usually once or twice a week. The frequency of sessions, as well as the specific goals of treatment, are determined by the needs of the client.

We work with both adults and children, including preschoolers. We diagnose and treat a wide variety of speech sound impairments, including apraxia, and phonological and articulation delays/disorders.

Please contact Dr. Paula McGuire for additional information.

Aphasia

Aphasia therapy is offered in both individual and group treatment formats. Following an initial evaluation and/or consultation with a clinical supervisor, a client may enroll in individual therapy, group therapy, or a combination of both.

One-on-one therapy is customized to suit each client's current communication needs. We continuously seek input from our clients and families in order to develop the most functional goals, compensatory strategies, and/or augmentative communication tools. Our clients' goals range from multi-modal expression of basic needs and ideas to high-level word retrieval, reading comprehension, and writing skills aimed at full community reintegration.

Our aphasia groups meet once per week; however, a client may choose to enroll in more than one, if appropriate. The following groups are available at this time:

Non-Fluent Aphasia Group

Fluent Aphasia Group

Augmentative/Alternative Communication Group

Reading Group

Please contact Belma Hadziselimovic should you have any additional questions.

Traumatic Brain Injury

Cognitive therapy services are offered for clients who experience acquired difficulties in the areas of orientation, attention, memory, problem solving, planning, sequencing, organization, and/or self-monitoring.

Following an initial evaluation and/or consultation with a clinical supervisor, quarterly goals are designed to maximize residual function through use of compensatory strategies and reliance on spared modalities. Treatment is provided in one-on-one format.

We continuously seek input from our clients and families in order to develop the most functional goals, compensatory strategies, and/or external memory and organization aids. Our clients' goals range from basic memory aid use to improve orientation and recall of biographical information to application of strategies within complex functional tasks aimed at full community reintegration.

Please contact Belma Hadziselimovic should you have any additional questions.

Stuttering

Therapy for stuttering is offered following an initial evaluation and/or consultation with a clinical supervisor.Individual and group therapy is offered for children and adults.  Frequency of therapy is determined by the needs of the client. The Lidcombe Program of Early Stuttering Intervention is also available.

Please contact Michelle Jones for further information.

Voice
