James Schwoch research and teaching are in the areas of international studies, media history, diplomacy, telecommunications and information technology policies, and research methodologies. His current major research project (in production with University of Illinois Press) is an archival history of American foreign relations and the globalization of television, titled Global TV: New Media and the Cold War, 1946-1969. Schwoch is also co-editing with Lisa Parks (UC-Santa Barbara) an anthology called Down to Earth about global issues related to satellites. His activities beyond Northwestern include organizing and convening the Technology, Politics, and Culture Seminars hosted by the Newberry Library in Chicago; visit the Library’s web site for a link to the seminar’s annual schedule of speakers and events.
