Communication Studies Peer Advising
Peer Advisors are undergraduates majors who volunteer their time to welcome and advise the incoming freshmen and any other Communication Studies students who need advice on course selection, major requirements or other general questions. Actual duties include emailing the incoming freshmen class, attending a peer advising lunch session with the freshmen each fall during "new student week", participating in an advising session prior to pre-registration each quarter, and assisting with various undergraduate programs and dinners. If this sounds like something that you would like to do, contact Debra Webster at dwebster@northwestern.edu to learn more.
Peer Advisors also represent the department on the Dean's Advisory Council (DAC). The DAC consists of twenty undergraduate students currently enrolled in the School of Communication (four from each department, representing the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes). The DAC meets once each quarter and holds additional meetings as they are needed.
