Infant and Children Studies Group
Who are we?
The Infant and Children Studies Group are Northwestern University faculty who are working to increase understanding of children’s early development.
The goal of our studies is to improve the implementation of prevention, education and therapeutic services for children between the ages of four months and four years old. The information gathered will eventually help identify and understand the skills that children need to develop healthy and productive lives.
What is our main focus?
Our main focus is to gain a greater understanding of children’s language and cognitive skills. The studies are aimed at answering questions such as:
- What do infants and young children know?
- How do they learn?
- What do they think?
- How do they develop?
How do parents benefit?
When parents bring their children to participate in our studies, they are exposing them to different environments and people. In this way, they can help their children gain greater comfort with a variety of people, settings and activities.
By participating in our studies, families are contributing to important infant and child research.
