Apply for Admission
To apply, complete the application for admission provided by the Admissions Office, or the Common Application. You must indicate on these forms that you are applying to the School of Communication. You must also indicate which major you intend to pursue. There is no undecided option in the School. Please note that if you would like to pursue the theatre major, you should indicate this on the application where it requests you list a major. Transferring into Theatre after being enrolled at Northwestern can be difficult, as the program has a cap for enrollment and is usually full.
Also, please note there are no auditions for the theatre major, and no required portfolio for film. Please contact the Admissions Office if you have further questions about submitting supporting materials with your application.
Music Theatre auditions happen at the end of your first year, and are not a pre-requisite for admission to the Theatre Department.
