Your academic advisors
Don’t be shy about making an appointment with your academic advisor. The School of Communication has a team of advisors to help you plan your path.
Welcome to the School of Communication
Welcome party: Join us at the 3rd Annual School of Communication Welcome Party! Held Tuesday, September 25 on the lawn east of Annie May Swift Hall from 3 to 5 p.m., you’ll get the chance to share Chicago-style snacks with your Class of 2016 peers as well as upperclassmen, graduate students, faculty, and staff from the SoC. Watch your Northwestern email for more details.
Consider a freshman seminar
A great way to get to know your faculty and peers is to sign up for a freshman seminar when you choose your first-quarter classes. These intimate special-topics courses are for first-year School of Communication students only. They’ll help you develop some of the classroom skills you’ll need as you progress through your major, and help you start to find your crowd at Northwestern. Ask your advisor for help with fitting a freshman seminar or other introductory class into your schedule.
