Graduate Programs: MFA in Stage Design
Ana Kuzmanic designed costumes for numerous productions around the country, including: Pillowman, Lost Land (featuring John Malkovich), and the world premiere of Tracy Letts’ play August: Osage County, directed by Anna Shapiro at Steppenwolf and at Broadway’s Imperial and Music Box Theatres (receiving a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Costume Design), King Lear, directed by Robert Falls (featuring Stacy Keach), and The Cook, directed by Henry Godinez at The Goodman Theatre; Manuscript Found in Saragossa and the world premiere of Mary Zimmerman’s Argonautika at The Looking Glass (remounted at Berkley Rep, Washington Shakespeare Theatre and McCarther at Princeton New Jersey); Man of LaMancha, directed by Amanda Dehnert at Cleveland Playhouse; Taming of the Shrew, Macbeth, How Can You Run with a Shell on Your Back and A Comedy of Errors (Jeff Award for best costume design) at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre; Dublin Carol at Trinity Repertory Company (starring William Peterson of CSI); A Month in a Country at Milwaukee Rep. Her film credits include Drunkboat, featuring John Malkovich and Kubuku Rides, directed by Terry Kinney. Ana’s upcoming projects include Desire Under the Elms directed by Robert Falls at the Goodman Theatre, and Art at Steppenwolf Theatre.
Kuzmanic is a frequent collaborator with director David Bell and Steppenwolf Theatre ensemble member Amy Morton. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including the 2007 Prague Quadrennial in the Czech Republic, and 2005 World Stage Design in Toronto, Canada. From 1993 to 2003, she produced her clothing and jewelry line, featured on runways around Europe and North America. She graduated from Faculty of Applied Arts and Design in Belgrade in 1997 and earned her Master’s Degree in Stage Design from Northwestern University in 2004.
Kuzmanic’s teaching focus is on costume design, drawing and painting for stage designer and recent fashion history.
