Annie May Swift Hall houses the departmental and faculty offices of Performance Studies and Radio/Television/Film. Additionally, the building contains a film library, a lecture theater/auditorium, and classrooms.

The original home of the School of Communication, Annie May Swift Hall was the product of the efforts of Robert McLean Cumnock, a Chautauqua Circuit star and the founder of the school, and Gustavus F. Swift, a Chicago businessman who donated the funds in 1895 as a memorial to his daughter, Annie May Swift, who was a student at Northwestern. The permanent home for the School provided a critical nerve center for the school's operations, academics, and administration.
