First annual beach party brings School of Communication community together

October 20, 2010

A party held by the School of Communication drew approximately 500 students, faculty, and staff members out to one of Northwestern University's best event facilities—the beach.

Northwestern's North Beach was the scene of the first annual School of Communication Beach Party, a welcome party for new members to the SoC family and a welcome-back to students and faculty returning from summer break.

WNUR 89.3, Northwestern's student-run radio station, played world and dance music for the party, broadcasting live to Chicagoland—and worldwide through www.wnur.org—from on location. WNUR is supported by the School of Communication, and many of the station participants are SoC students.

A few lucky students walked away with Apple and Amazon.com raffle prizes, but the entire group got lucky with the weather—it was 70 degrees and sunny, and a great day to spend on the beach.
