Course of Study
Acting Area Core Value/Mission Statement
We believe that grounding the study of theatre in a liberal arts education is ideally suited to our core beliefs as theatre educators — that the study of theatre is the study of the entirety of human experience; that the study of acting is an experiential exploration and a rigorous process of intellectual inquiry.
With the leadership of an acting mentor, each cohort of students undertakes a 3-year sequence of courses centered on dramatic texts, which investigate and illuminate the human experience. Through this sequence, the acting area seeks to instill a range of performance skills, deep curiosity, and empathetic awareness for the world in which the students live, so they may begin to realize their full potential as expressive, engaged human beings.
