Distance Learning & eLearning

SoCIT can assist departments and faculty with putting courses online for distance learning and eLearning. We provide instructional design services in addition to the production of multimedia assets to enhance online courses. These services are for appropriate credit courses, non-credit courses, workshops and training.

Instructional Technology

SoCIT can assist with the selection and implementation of instruction technology, from online tools, audio and video to in-class technologies like clickers.

SoC Smart Classrooms

The School of Communication operates smart classrooms in Frances Searle, Louis Hall and Annie May Swift. These classrooms have been specially equipped to meet the technology needs of SoC faculty and students. SoCIT provides user support and facility maintenance for these classrooms. Immediate user support may be obtained by calling our help desk at 7-4651. The help desk is open Mon - Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. during the Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer quarters.

Requests for training or assistance in using a classroom may be submitted to the ticketing system above.

Instructional Support: Radio, Television and Film

SoCIT Curriculum Support provides consulting and support to film production courses in the areas of cinematography/principal production and post-production.

The cinematography specialist is available to consult with film production faculty and students in the RTVF department on projects and course assignments. The specialist may also advise student productions sponsored by the Studio 22 and Night School student groups. The cinematography specialist maintains regular office hours and is available by appointment.

The post-production specialist manages the Fisk Lab which provides video editing workstations to students enrolled in RTVF production courses. The post-production specialist is available to consult with film production faculty and students in the RTVF departments on projects and course assignement. He maintains regular office hours and is available by appointment.

Support information is distributed to RTVF faculty and students each quarter. To request cinematography or post-production support please submit a support ticket.
