A three-year construction project is now underway on the south side of campus will alter the normal route to and from the Theatre and Interpretation Center, including the Ethel M. Barber Theater, Josephine Louis Theater, Hal and Martha Hyer Wallis Theater and Mussetter-Struble Theater. Arts Circle Drive is now closed to traffic. Please allow extra time for parking.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: From February 11-March 15, 2013, the north-west stairwell in the two-level parking structure across from the theater will be closed. All visitors and audience members must exit the garage from the north-central stairwell and take the stairs leading up to the Louis and Barber Theaters. For audiences attending performances in the Struble or Wallis Theaters, at one hour to curtain, signs will be posted at the top of the stairwell to guide them to their performance venue. This construction project impacts handicap parking and patrons requiring special access to our theaters, as the parking structure is not accessible to patrons unable to climb stairs. Additional information on designated drop-off locations and the construction project is below.
Where can I park?
Free parking is still available on weekends and after 4 p.m. on weekdays in the multi-level structure located on Campus Drive. After turning onto Campus Drive from Sheridan Road, enter the parking structure on your right by way of ramps leading to the upper and lower levels.
Please note that the multi-level structure is not accessible to patrons who are unable to climb stairs. For information on parking and designated drop-off locations, please read our Special Access information below.
How do I access the TIC Box Office during the day?
The TIC Box Office is open for phone and in-person transactions Tuesdays-Fridays from 10am-5pm and Saturdays Noon-4pm. Our website is available for ticket purchases 24/7 at www.tic.northwestern.edu.
The multi-level structure requires a permit during the week between the hours of 8am-4pm. If you wish to come in-person to our Box Office, you may either come on Saturdays when parking in the structure is free or there are a limited number of 30-minute meters located on the upper level of the multi-level parking structure. Patrons also may park along Sheridan Road south of Campus Drive and walk to the TIC Box Office.
How can I get to each of the TIC spaces from the parking structure?
Barber Theater & Louis Theater: After parking your vehicle in the multi-level structure, walk to the north-central stairwell of the parking structure and exit to a pedestrian walkway. This path will lead you along the east side of the theatre building. Josephine Louis Theater is located at the top of the first set of stairs. The Ethel M. Barber Theater is located at the top of the second set of stairs.
Wallis Theater, Struble Theater & TIC Administrative Offices: After parking your vehicle in the multi-level structure, walk to the north-central stairwell of the parking structure and exit to a pedestrian walkway. This path will lead you along the east side of the theatre building. Josephine Louis Theater is located at the top of the first set of stairs. Turn left, keeping the Louis Theater to your right. Walk past the theater, down the stairwell and continue west on the sidewalk to Campus Drive. When you reach Campus Drive, turn to your right and follow the sidewalk north, keeping the theater building on your right at all times. You will pass John J. Louis Hall and then a loading dock before you come to a small sidewalk with bushes leading down to a set of glass doors. Walk down the sidewalk and you will enter the lobby for both the Wallis and Struble Theater.
To access the TIC administrative offices, you may take the elevator or the stairs in the lobby up to the second floor.
Special Access Parking
A small lot directly west of John J. Louis Hall will have 16 reserved spaces available for patrons with handicap placards.
Special Access Drop-Off Locations:
Ethel M. Barber Theater: After turning onto Campus Drive, continue driving straight. You will pass the parking structure and John J. Louis Hall on your right. Drive another approximate 200 feet and you will come upon a turnaround on your right where you may pull off to the side and park temporarily. From there, escort your guests by following the sidewalk eastward to a ramp that will allow special access to Arts Circle Plaza. The Barber Theater will be to your right, just past the entrance to the Block Museum.
Wallis Theater & Struble Theater: After turning onto Campus Drive, continue driving straight. You will pass the parking structure and John J. Louis Hall on your right. Drive another approximate 100 feet and you will come upon a turnaround on your right where you may pull off to the side and park temporarily. From there, proceed south on the sidewalk alongside Campus Drive until you reach another small sidewalk that will lead you to a set of glass doors, which is the entrance to the Wallis and Struble Theater lobbies.
Louis Theater: After turning onto Campus Drive, continue to the point where Arts Circle Drive and Campus Drive once met (next to John J. Louis Hall). Special-access patrons should be dropped off at this location and escorted east on the sidewalk in front of the theater building to a ramp that will allow special access to the entrance of the Josephine Louis Theater.
After dropping off your guest(s) at any of the above locations, you will turn your car around so you are again heading south on Campus Drive. If you have a placard, you can park in the handicap accessible spaces in the lot directly west of John J. Louis Hall, or you can continue south on Campus Drive and enter the multi-level parking structure on the left.
