Fall Dance Concert The Fall Dance Concert is an annual performance produced by the New Movement Project, a student group sponsored by the Dance Program. Every year dance majors petition in the spring to make works for the Fall Dance Concert and are then selected by a panel consisting of faculty and students. Auditions are open to all students. Over the course of the fall quarter, the choreographers receive feedback from professors and invited local artists during several work-in-progress showings. |

You Can’t Dance Out the Side of Your Mouth Emerging independent Chicago choreographer Jaema Joy Berry premiers “You Can’t Dance Out the Side of Your Mouth.” Berry will showcase her sleek style of “visually-designed” modern dance with some jazz elements, focusing on unfolding visual patterns, especially when working with larger groups -- a kind of visual call-and-response for the audience. Berry’s newest work explores family relationships and the easy connections made by small children, set to music from diverse sources, including French musician and composer Yann Tiersen, the ethereal sounds of Sigur Ros; classical works by J.S. Bach; and an original composition by Chicago-based composer Daniel Green. |
