Danceworks 2012 is a dramatic and evocative celebration of the present moment in contemporary dance, featuring modern, jazz, hip-hop, ballet and dance theater choreography created by Northwestern’s renowned dance faculty and performed by a vibrant company of up-and-coming student dancers.  Under the artistic direction of Annie Beserra, the original choreography moves seamlessly from the familiar to the forward thinking, offering audiences a unique perspective on the here and now.  From the intimate to the ironic and back again, this dynamic collection of world premieres and repertory favorites looks at the way we as human beings construct our personal and political realities through the songs we sing, the language we speak, the relationships we cherish and even the television we watch.

Featuring choreography by Annie Beserra, Jeff Hancock, Amanda Exley Lower, Stephanie Paul, Billy Siegenfeld, Joel Valentin-Martinez and Laura Wade
