How to be involved and meet people
There are lots of ways to meet people and have fun at Northwestern. Student groups are a great way to get involved, even if you're not on a varsity team or a Theatre major: there are intramural sports, student-run productions, student government, or fun mini courses at Norris, just to name a few.
What to do
For fun, attend one of many student, departmental, or visiting artist concerts, theatre and dance performances, or catch a flick at the Block Cinema. There are also the many NU sporting events to see. Here and Now is a great internet hub to find out what's happening on campus.
Where to live
As far as where you actually live, there are lots of choices, from residence halls and Residential Colleges, to apartments and sororities and fraternities once you’ve become an upper-classman.
Getting around town
There are lots of restaurants and coffee shops to hang out at in Evanston, many which have student discounts through your student ID, the WildCARD. Access to Chicago is easy by public transportation via the "el" (elevated train).
Studying & Working Out
Let's face it, you are going to have to study a lot of the time. But there are lots of nice places to study, from the Library, outdoors on campus or Norris. And if you want get in shape or need to blow off some steam, all students get a free membership to Fitness and Recreation facilities.
