Occupy Dance 2013
Artistic Director Annie Beserra
March 1-10, 2013
In Occupy Dance 2013, choreographers take on the economics of the body. How does the individual and collective body resist and rebound in times of economic crisis? Who is impoverished and what does that mean? What fantasies and myths of the body have our fears of economic hardship produced? Under the artistic direction of award-winning Northwestern University dance faculty Annie Beserra, Occupy Dance 2013 explores these timely topics through various dance forms including dance theatre, contact improvisation and hip hop, with guest artists Jump Rhythm Jazz Project performing the 20th anniversary revival of "Getting There."
